NOW OPEN! ALL-STAR LEGACY FIELDS AT RHYNE PARK
Joint partnership between MLB, Atlanta Braves, Cobb PARKS, and RPGSA brings major facility upgrades to Rhyne Park

On Monday, July 14th, MLB, Braves, and Cobb officials cut the ribbon on the impressive improvements to Rhyne Park. This joint effort is part of MLB Together's All-Star Legacy Program. The renovations include new turf fields, batting cages, pitching lanes, scoreboards, LED lighting, sidewalks, a mural, and more!
MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred was joined by Braves chairman Terry McGuirk, Cobb County Board of Commissioners chairwoman Lisa Cupid, District 4 commissioner Monique Sheffield and Cobb County manager Dr. Jackie McMorris. The audience at the ribbon cutting included Rhyne Park athletes and community from Smyrna and Cobb County. Joining them was a star-studded lineup of 14 MLB alumni including Andruw Jones, Nick Swisher, Ryan Howard, CC Sabathia and multiple MLB mascots including BLOOPER from the Braves. Hosting the event was the first female to ever receive a Rawlings Gold Glove Award, AJ Andrews.
On Sunday ahead of the ribbon cutting, Rhyne Park athletes and families were treated to a special sneak peek. MLB Softball Ambassadors Natasha Watley and Lauren Chamberlain were on site to inspire the girls, sign autographs, and take pictures. Athletes then were able to enjoy the new park including game action with sandlot scrimmages.
This effort was a complete joint partnership between Cobb County, MLB, Braves, and RPGSA. Funding for the project came from MLB/Braves grants, RPGSA park improvement fundraisers, and Cobb County SPLOST. The scale and scope of this project is not possible without the support of county Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST). Our association is incredibly appreciative of the county's support of SPLOST so that future projects such as this one can continue to improve the quality of life in our county.
