Rhyne Park Families-
With the continuing news of the spread of the coronavirus, please know that we are constantly monitoring the situation closely and we take it very seriously. Official games for the IIFTG League will be suspended this weekend and next weekend (3/14 & 3/21).
Cobb County Parks has NOT officially closed the parks for use. Therefore practices for the next two weeks will be up to the coaches and completely voluntary. While we are not playing the other parks in the league at all for two weeks, the coaches will be allowed to scrimmage other Rhyne Park teams. These will not be official games and will be completely voluntary. Concessions will not open at all during the two week period.
We continue to ask that our softball community heed the guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control and the Georgia Department of Public Health. By staying informed, practicing good hygiene, and remaining at home if exhibiting any signs of illness, we can help prevent the spread of this respiratory virus.
As stated previously, USA Softball, USSSA and the CDC has suggested refraining from handshaking, so with that in mind we are going to ask that you come up with different ways to exhibit good sportsmanship during any optional practices or scrimmages. Suggestions include clapping for the other team as a group, tipping of hats, or simply waving and saying good game.
Additionally, we encourage you to please bring disinfecting wipes and wipe down helmets and catcher's masks at any optional practices or scrimmages.
The greatest part of Rhyne Park is the community itself. We ask that you be proactive in helping us keep our community as safe as possible.
The board will again continue to monitor the situation and update the Rhyne Park family as needed. We will reevaluate the game situation as a league at the end of the two weeks.
